I met Roger in 1983 when his son Rick and I became friends in Baltimore, MD. The Theder household was always open and welcoming. Roger was always willing to captivate us with stories of athletes he coached, and give advice on ways to be better high school football players. One great memory is when Roger welcomed us to the Baltimore Colts training camp facility to watch the pros work out, and even toss the ball around. Topping the day off with 'Squincher' sports drink capped a wonderful time!

It is a joy and pleasure to be friends with your son Rick. I am so sorry for your loss. I met Roger a few times and he was always fun to be around, had the best stories and always attracted those around him to listen and admire him. His contributions to the game are impressive and, most of all, he was a great person with a big heart!

So many fond memories of time spent with Roger and the Theder family. Many Thanksgivings together (including a fun one in Baltimore with some football players - what 20-something year old gal wouldn't like that!). Enjoying many football games at Stanford and Cal with a very nervous Marie and my cousins. I was a high school girl-jock (ahead of the times) and always felt I had a special bond with Roger because of the love we shared for sports (and not just football). Somewhere, stuffed in a scrap book, I have a special note from Roger that says"To my Favorite Niece" - that note means a lot to me, because he is my favorite uncle! So glad I have so many great memories to remember.

So sad to hear my friend Roger Theder died today. Amazing man. Can't wait to use the skills he taught me on the practice field tomorrow.

RIP to the best QB coach I've ever had Roger Theder. If it wasn't for you I would have never received a scholarship to play football. ????????❤️
